Senior Director, Sales and Global Distribution

Tornado is seeking to add a growth-minded Senior Director, Sales and Global Distribution to lead our sales team. You will manage and oversee all aspect of sales and global distribution. Your days will be spent providing product training and support to distributors, generating new product ideas and communicating them internally; establishing sales objectives/projections for each territory allocation, and maintaining responsibility for seeking global opportunities to generate revenue and meet projected fiscal sales targets. You will be required to travel for meetings with customers and partners and to develop key relationships, while recruiting and training distributors.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • As a member of our senior leadership team, you will develop strategic direction for the company while being responsible for delivering on an annual revenue plan
  • Identifies business opportunities by identifying prospects and evaluating their position in the industry; researching and analyzing sales options
  • Maintains relationships with clients by providing support, information, and guidance; researching and recommending new opportunities; recommending profit and service improvements
  • Manage applications team so that appropriate marketing collateral is created
  • Providing input on product specifications to allow maximum saleability
  • Selecting (and leading the activities of) the professional sales and applications team, and contributing to the decision making process related to hiring new subordinates and designing compensation plans
  • Providing input on profitability analyses from a distribution standpoint for potential new distributors
  • Manage distributors to establish annual revenue and volume budget. Ensure distributor sales plans are developed and executed to deliver budget results
  • Conduct joint sales calls with distributors and sales agents. Coordinate all marketing and technical support for distribution and direct sales team
  • Provide detailed and accurate sales forecasting
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Sciences or a related discipline
  • Minimum 5+ years of progressive responsibility in sales of medical or scientific instruments
  • Experience in managing an export sales territory or export distributors
  • Ability to travel frequently
  • Requisite knowledge of applicable international business cultures
  • Results driven and process improvement focused
  • Ability to gather and use business and market information on an ongoing basis for strategic planning and analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
  • Demonstrates ability to get things done within the distributor’s / customer’s territory
  • Verbally transmit ideas, instructions and information so they are clearly understood by others in formal, or informal face to face situations; writes clear, concise on grammatically correct letters, memos, business presentations and instructions which others can understand
  • Ability to be “hands-on” with Tornado’s instruments
  • Spectroscopy experience desirable
